Jamie Mott
Following an encounter with a book about Egyptian mythology at the age of 7, Jamie decided that other people are a bit strange and resolved to figure out what’s with all the hats and jumping about.
A long winded degree in social anthropology and the study of religions at SOAS university probably made matters more confusing, but it did help him realise a passion for anthropology which he followed up with an extended stint at UCL. Two years and a lot of long words later Jamie emerged dazed and replete, with a Masters in Material Culture and an Mres in Social Anthropology under his belt.
After graduating he worked as a junior consultant for the Urban and Economic Development Group (URBED) before getting back to his roots as a freelance semiotician and ethnographer. In that time he produced semiotic analysis for a number of leading global brands and undertook extensive freelance ethnographic work both at home and abroad.
Jamie joined Intrepid in March 2010 and is now one of our research assistants where he is bringing his ethnographic skills to bear in work with clients such as Microsoft, the Department of Education and CNN International.
When not following people around and asking them intrusive questions, Jamie is involved with Goat & Monkey theatre, an experimental company specializing in immersive promenade performances and Stour Space, a not-for-profit exhibition and performance space. He also dabbles in the occasional bit of illustration and pretends he keeps bees.
