Identifying what is “Core” to the computer experience
Challenge
Identify what elements and aspects of the computer experience users find to be Core by identifying just what ‘familiar’ means to users, what features and elements of the computer are ‘familiar,’ and what implications this has for future designs.
Our Contribution
Intrepid began this exploring with a virtual ethnography that explored users’ attitudes towards the primary PC brands and how their experience with varied on each brand. We then tested these hypotheses with friendship triads across the U.S.
Results
Ultimately, we developed a list of features and elements that the client should not change as users would then find their computer experience to be ‘unfamiliar’.
